Hall of Shame |
"The work is
essentially a heavily documented expose, but one with significant policy
implications. Kopczynski is a well known expert on private prisons...(t)he
book tells a tale of how he developed his expertise and anti-privatization
convictions through his investigation of the private prison industry in
Florida, and his subsequent exposure of a scandal that had reverberations
throughout the industry...If this book were only about individuals whose
greed led them to run afoul of ethics rules and who were hoisted on their own
petard, it would be an interesting but not nearly as important as it is. What
makes this a cautionary tale that deserves to be better known is that
Kopczynski reveals patterns in the way that for-profit prison vendors do
business." Correctional
